I hope you all are happy. Normally, I would not have more than one post in a day, unless things were scheduled like January was. However, since I cannot cover the final four episodes of my season pass in rapid succession, like I can with FUNimation's five seasons of Detective Conan (Case Closed), this has got to due. Today, I will be reviewing Inuyasha: The Final Act episode 24.
As I have given a series synopsis in an earlier post, I will not over it again.
After having overcome the illusion, thanks to Kagome's arrow, Inuyasha and his group can finally attack Naraku directly, but Kagome wants to know exactly what Naraku's wanted the Shikon Jewel to grant.
I am not too sure about this one. Things are still progressing properly, considering that this truly is the final battle. The other battle is not as action-packed, and is more of an internal struggle. Of course, that is all I remember of final episodes when Viz was simulcasting. Also, I am certainly interested in finding out Naraku's wish. After all, as useless as Kagome has been throughout the series, she was right that Naraku understood the bonds people make. Understanding that bond is, after all, the key to destroying it. Still, Naraku's wish was not as interesting as the action Byakuya took. For much of the series, he has been observing things, and pretty much like any spy, except for the fact that he does not join groups to gain information, feeding the info back to Naraku. The first time we actually saw him do something, he absorbed the residue of Meido. Also, Meido normally sends victim to the underworld. However, when the Meido wielded by Byakuya cut Kagome, she remained inside Naraku's body. This is not some simple technique stealing, since there must be something special about Byakuya's weapon to not have the same immediate effects as the real technique. There was also some bit of humor, but this is understandably lacking a bit, since one cannot be expected to laugh at things that happen in a final battle. The fact that things seem to be progressing well and that Byakuya did not really steal Meido appears to make this somewhat enjoyable.
Although the episode was good, there are certainly some issues. However, only thing comes to mind. The new form of Meido just seemed to be too convenient. Ever since Inuyasha gained Meido, he has not really done any training with, like he did after gaining the Dragon-scaled Tessaiga. In fact, after gaining Meido, Inuyasha and everyone else was pitted against Magatsuhi and Naraku. There was practically no time for Inuyasha to suddenly master it, so that it actually cut. Besides, I found Raizen taking over Yusuke during the Sensui fight, which I found to remain unexplained, to be a bit more believable than Inuyasha suddenly gaining a new form of Meido without any bit of training. After many new transformations, I doubt fans of the series will care, but that does not change how stupid it seems. The fact that yet again Inuyasha seems to have gained a new technique makes thing rather dumb.
Despite the fact that I found the new form of Meido too convenient, the fact that things were progressing quite well made this worth watching. I only recommend this to current fans of Inuyasha.
