Anime Review: Inuyasha: The Final Act Episode 8

November 24, 2012

Well, this is certainly a nice present, even though I knew it was coming. At the same time, I doubt that iTunes would have released an episode because of what today is. After all, it is not a nationwide holiday or something like that. It does mean that I can cover another episode in one of my season passes. Today, I will be reviewing Inuyasha: The Final Act episode 8.

As I gave a series synopsis in an earlier post, I will not go over it again.

Having successfully obtained the bow from Mount Azusa, Kagome is returned to her friends, or so Inuyasha believes. However, Naraku takes possession of Kikyo, intending to kill her. She may have her own plans, but Naraku still sees through her.

I somewhat enjoyed this episode. I liked how Kagome told Inuyasha that she harbored negative feelings towards Kikyo. While it is not good to have negative feelings for people, it is something our society does a lot, especially myself. At the same time, people do not hold negative feelings towards somebody for the same reason, unless one considers greed the reason, since all the other six deadly sins stem from it. Because of this fact, I think Kagome is a much better person than most people are because she did admit to it. I also liked how Inuyasha told her that it did not matter because even though she had the negative feelings, she still desired to save Kikyo. On the other hand, in real life, humans are not always like that, especially considering what I said about how people deal with others in my review of Cage of Eden Volume 5. Kikyo's death was also kind of sad, but only those that have followed Inuyasha prior to this show could say exactly why. Speaking of which, the fans will be glad that none of their beloved action has disappeared from the show. Since it is obvious that this show is not for newcomers to the franchise, this is definitely a good step to take because fans do not want to be disappointed. The fact that Kagome admits to her negative feelings towards Kikyo, as well as the fact that things are going as they should, considering that this not for newcomers, certainly makes this a nice episode.

Although the episode was nice, there were certainly some issues. However, all I can think of is pretty much what I already complained about in the review of the previous episode. Of course, since my main problem happened because of that episode, I do not think I have anything else to add about. Considering that my biggest gripe is pretty much what I complained about in the last episode and that I cannot think of anything else that I have not mentioned before, I will say that there is nothing worth mentioning.

Despite the fact that a previous episode did some bit of damage, the episode was worth watching. I recommend this to only current fans of Inuyasha.
