Well, it certainly is nice to be covering only one series right now. After all, I did say that covering multiple series at once could be a hassle.
Of course, the best thing is that I am able to at least cover the simulcast a bit earlier than usual. Today, I will be reviewing A Certain Scientific Railgun S episode 12.
As I have given a series synopsis in an earlier post, I will not go over it again.
After the many escapades of destroying facilities and finding out that the Level 6 Shift project has not been halted, Misaka gears up for one final facility, not knowing that her target may have been dealt with already.
I kind of liked this episode. Unlike the previous episode, which seemed to be dull, I was much more interested in this one. Even though I know that things will not end here, seeing Misaka rush off towards her next target seemed to give much more of a feel that this really was going to be the final target than in the manga. I even liked Misaka shock when she found out that Tree Diagram had been destroyed. I know I originally said that Misaka found out it was destroyed in episode 10, but I got it wrong and I must apologize for that. It was actually a facility that went bankrupt. It looks like not even I am perfect. Then again, I do not remember even making such a claim, just that nothing we make is perfect. Naturally, It is much easier to look back through things on DVD or downloading from iTunes, but, disappointingly, FUNimation chose to put Attack on Titan on iTunes, instead of this series, which is much more deserving of such treatment. Anyway, I better get back to the episode at hand. Another thing that I liked was that things seemed a bit funnier than the last episode. This is certainly a nice change from something not being as funny as it should have been. In fact, seeing Accelerator beat up bunch of hoodlums was probably what had me laughing the most. While it was funny in the manga, I think this had me actually laughing, whereas the manga version just brought a smirk to my face. It was also kind of nice to see what one of Misaka's clones and Touma were up to. People who have seen A Certain Magical Index might recognize these events, but seeing as the manga never really explained what was going on, I am glad that we actually see what they are up to, instead of Accelerator just happening to spot the clone and not knowing why Touma is with her. This actually makes it feel like the timelines of Railgun and Magical Index have intersected, instead of just having the few scenes that the manga has where Touma and Accelerator appear, which was the feeling I got from the manga. Outside of that, I cannot think of anything that stuck out to me. The fact that seeing Misaka go after her next target really did seem like it was going to be the final target and that things seemed to be a bit a funnier this episode, especially when seeing Accelerator beat up some guys, as well that things from Magical Index making this really seem like the timelines have intersected, does make this pretty enjoyable.
Although I did like the episode, there are certainly some issues. However, since I made a mistake in my review of an earlier episode and things seemed to have improved from the previous episode, I will have to say that there is nothing worth mentioning.
Considering that things have improved over the last episode, this was definitely worth watching. I only recommend this to fans of A Certain Scientific Railgun.
