Anime Review: A Certain Scientific Railgun S Episode 7

May 26, 2013

While it is nice to get in some reading, it is also nice to take a break and keep up with the latest episode of the simulcast I decided to pick up. Today, I will be reviewing A Certain Scientific Railgun S episode 7.

As I have given a series synopsis in an earlier post, I will not go over it again.

While Misaka begins her attack on every facility involved Level 6 Shift project, Kuroko encounters some kids looking for a particular kind of cash card.

Even though she scolds them at first, she decides to help out after being told the reason they are for the card, recognizing her own situation.

I am not too sure about this one. It was certainly nice seeing more of what Kuroko and the others were up to, instead of being focused entirely on Misaka. After all, as exciting as things are following Misaka, the manga never really covered exactly what the other girls were, as far as I can remember. I found it a bit funny that Kuroko was the depressed one this episode. After trying to cheer up Misaka, I would have thought that she may have been a bit happier. Then again, I do understand Kuroko being this way because she and Misaka went through a lot, especially during the Level Upper and Poltergeist arcs from the last season. Not only have they been through a lot, but they are also roommates and have not hung out a whole lot recently. I guess this is why Kuroko wants to be involved with whatever Misaka was dealing with. I also liked how Saten got involved in trying to find the so-called lucky card. I was chuckling at the fact that she and the kid were sniffing around like dogs. That pretty is much like Saten, considering that she did the same thing back in episode 2, when the Sisters arc began. I liked that Uiharu and Saten seemed to be worried about Kuroko, but seeing as they were worried about Misaka in the previous episode, I would not expect anything less. Another nice thing was that we actually do get to see Misaka's attacks, which I was sure hoping to see, and added a bit more excitement, since this is Misaka's series. Outside of that, I cannot think of anything else that I liked. The fact that we get to see more of what Kuroko and the others are up and a few laughs, as well as the fact that we actually get to see Misaka starting her attack on facilities, made this look good.

Although the episode was good, there were certainly some issues. However, considering that the staff behind the anime has been doing a good job at keeping the arc faithful to its manga counterpart and much of the chapter that is covered this episode happened in the previous episode, I think that the only thing I had to complain about it too minor. Because of this fact, I will have to say that there is nothing worth mentioning.

Considering that the only thing that dissatisfied me was too minor, this was definitely worth watching. I only recommend this to fans of A Certain Scientific Railgun.
